UBS hires financial technology head from JPMorgan

14 July 2010

Financial services provider UBS has hired a new technology head for its investment banking division in the US.

According to reports, Mark Zanoli has left his position with JPMorgan in order to join the Swiss bank.

The new post holder, who has had 17 years experience within the banking industry, will report to Aryeh Bourkoff, joint global co-head of technology, media and communications at the bank.

Mr Zanoli will replace Brian Webber, who left UBS earlier in the year to join Moelis&Co.

His new manager, Mr Bourkoff told Bloomberg: “Over the course of the next 12 to 18 months, we expect to see steady growth in technology deals led by initial public offerings and acquisitions.”

“We believe in the integration of technology ... given there are many companies that sit on the bridge between media and technologies such as Hulu LLC, Google Inc, Cisco Systems Inc, Tivo Inc.”

The new post holder , who is based in San Fransisco, is due to start the job in October.

Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney has announced the hire of a number of financial advisors from UBS.

Up to six advisors have been taken on from the bank with an additional new employee hired from Charles Schwab Corp.
