The new post holder, who was in charge of Goldmanâs M&A unit in the same territory as well as businesses working with industrial and natural resources, is expected to begin his new job with Citi in September.
According to Citi, Mr Osmond has worked with M&A and capital market transactions in the region for 16 years, having previously been employed by UBS prior to his spell at Goldman Sachs.
He will be based in Melbourne and report to Chris Knoblanche, head of global banking for Citi in Australia and New Zealand, when he takes up the post.
Mr Knoblanche said: âWe are not looking to build size, but rather appoint individual bankers who bring a new dimension to the business.
âAs a region, we continue to benefit from ties to growth in emerging markets and a sound local business and financial sector.â
Earlier in the year Citigroup announced the appointment of Brett Paton as vice-chairman of the institutional clients group for the territory.
