4 August 2010

Technology professional Greg Mrva has been appointed as the head of financial services provider Barclays Capital’s (BarCap) Internet Investment Banking unit.

The new post holder, who was previously employed by Yahoo! as vice-president of Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Corporate Development, will become part of the firm’s Global Technology Investment Banking business by taking on the job.

He will be based at the firm’s offices in Menlo Park and work with Laurence Goldberg, head of BarCap’s Global Technology Group.

Mr Goldberg said: “Greg brings a vast knowledge of the sector and is the perfect choice to lead the Internet Banking team.

“His combination of investment banking and corporate development experience affords him valuable perspective into the unique challenges and opportunities confronting companies in the sector, which will be extremely beneficial to our clients worldwide.”

Mr Mrva was responsible for developing Yahoo!’s investment strategy while he has worked within M&A departments at both Goldman Sachs and Banc of America Securities.

During July, BarCap announced the launch of Portfolio WebBench, a new trading application offering investors real-time analytics.
