Deutsche Bank launches Hong Kong-based dark pool

24 August 2010

Deutsche Bank has launched a dark pool equity trading system in Hong Kong.

According to the financial services provider, the new Deutsche Bank Automated Trading System (DBATS) can be used in conjunction with SuperX, a dark pool algorithm, to allow the bank’s clients access to off-exchange networks in Asia.

The new trading system and the algorithm can be accessed via Deutsche Bank’s equity sales desk or Autobahn Equity, the firm’s electronic trading platform, the bank explained.

Mark Davis, head of Equity and Equity-Linked Execution for Asia Pacific, said: "DBATS and SuperX form part of an ongoing commitment to give our clients the liquidity they need in today's volatile markets. This initiative is further evidence of the ongoing investment in our Asian equity execution platform.”

According to the bank, it is hoping that the SuperX algorithm will emulate the popularity it has seen with clients in the US and Europe.

Deutsche Bank recently announced it has set up an equity strategy team for the Asia region.

Ajay Kapur has been appointed as managing director and head of Asian Equity Strategy.
