RBS WorldPay to provide merchants with end-to-end security technology

20 August 2010

RBS WorldPay is to collaborate with Semtek on providing its US merchants with technology to meet their end-to-end security requirements.

According to the two firms, Semtek will provide RBS WorldPay with a new electronic processing infrastructure, which will feature encryption and network services as well as software security.

The Cipher Decryption Service is due to be integrated with the electronic payment processor’s host systems.

Other solutions included within the new infrastructure offer security solutions to protect card payments from data theft.

Ian Drysdale, senior-vice president of RBS WorldPay, said: "RBS WorldPay intends to provide the merchant community with the most flexible and effective means of continuous security for payment card data.”

Patrick Hazel, chief executive of Semtek, added: "RBS WorldPay made it clear from the outset that continuous security needed to be deployed in a manner that would optimize implementation options.”

This aim aligns itself with Semtek’s open network platform, which should help RBS WorldPay merchants experience greater security, he claimed.

Earlier in the month, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced a hacker charged with assisting in the theft of $9.4 million from RBS WorldPay is to be extradited from Estonia to face trial in the US.
