Top performing hedge funds named

The ABS Feeder Fund from CQS and the BlackRock Middle East & North Africa Opportunities Fund have scooped two of the top prizes at the ninth annual Hedge Fund Review European Performance Awards.

CQS saw its fund take the prize for Best Fixed-Income Hedge Fund at a gala ceremony in London, while BlackRock collected the award for Best Emerging Markets Hedge Fund.

Best Long/Short Equity Hedge Fund went to the Alphagen Octanis Fund from Gartmore Investments and the Pivot Global Value Fund from Pivot Capital Management was named Best Global Macro Hedge Fund.

Brevan Howard Asset Management collected two awards on the night - scooping the Best Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund gong for the Brevan Howard Master Fund and also taking home the Best Overall Group award.

The Hedge Funds Review Hedge Fund of the Year was the Tulip Trend Fund from Progressive Capital Partners. The fund also won the Best Hedge Fund over Three Years category.

Winton Capital Management's Winton Futures Fund won the award for best performance over ten years.

The judges, who included Chris Jones of Key Asset Managements and Tushar Patel of HFIM, also handed the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award to International Standard Asset Management chief executive Stanley Fink.
