Mansfield, Mass., Sept. 6, 2005 â Vanguard Managed Solutions (VanguardMS) today introduced a new multi-protocol IP VPN access router, Model 242D, as an integrated, low-cost alternative for small branch offices, retail locations, and banks with automated teller machines (ATMs) seeking highly-secure, cost-effective broadband access for their serial and IP applications. This unique feature-rich device is ideal for businesses migrating to IP-based network services that require advanced network security features for access to both private BGP/MPLS and public networks, but who wish to protect their investments in existing legacy-based infrastructures.
The Vanguard 242D router features integrated firewall and encryption functions. It also supports serial traffic, such as SNA and bisync, over IP networks, and relies on a high-performance architecture to provide Quality of Service for simultaneous applications by differentiating between higher and lower priority traffic.
