New York and Burlington, MA-- Reuters, the global information company, and Charles River Development, a market-leading provider of software and services to investment managers, today announced an alliance that offers true desktop-level integration of data, analytics and order management functionality. The integration goes beyond traditional market data interfaces to integrate core desktop application functionality.

The two firms will provide asset managers with integrated, dynamic, and context-sensitive access to Reuters high quality data and analytics from within the Charles River Investment Management System (Charles River IMS). In addition, the firms are integrating Reuters equity and fixed income real-time pricing, dynamic content and historical and reference data with Charles River IMS and embedding several Reuters software applications into Charles River IMS.

Mutual clients of Charles River and Reuters will be able to view a variety of Reuters Station applications and access underlying Reuters data and analytics from the Charles River Trader Blotter and Charles River Manager Workbench windows, as well as all associated reference windows.

Yvette Jackson, Reuters Head of Sales and Trading Products for the Americas, said: "We are very excited to be allied with Charles River. The quality and breadth of Reuters content and state-of-the-art functionality of Reuters Station, combined with Charles River’s market leading system, provides true desktop-level integration, an intelligent solution that will satisfy our clients’ needs."

Rick Enfield, Director of Product Management for Charles River, said: "Our alliance with Reuters goes beyond other offerings by seamlessly integrating Reuters data on multiple levels throughout the OMS and offering complete interoperability. As order management systems broaden their functionality to provide comprehensive front-office functionality, data becomes a much more critical component whether you’re talking about decision support, portfolio management, trading, analytics, or new security setup."

Reuters will, on a daily basis, automatically refresh the client’s database stored within Charles River IMS with current equities, fixed income, money markets and futures historical and reference data.

This means investment managers start each day with an accurate and complete picture of the market, their holdings, and potential new security purchases. For intra-day updates, an "on demand" feature will empower asset managers to instantly request and receive Reuters’ data as they purchase new securities.

The integration of Reuters’ data, analytics, and application windows will be available in the Version 8 series of Charles River IMS.
