London, UK â 30 November 2005 â Visualisation software experts Fractal Edge today announced the release of the Fractal Map 2.0 Application Programming Interface (API), including comprehensive code samples and âHow toâ guides targeted at the most common developer requirements. The release of this C++ API enables Fractal Edge customers and other vendors to embed Fractal Maps within their own applications and solutions and extend the functionality of the core Fractal Map 2.0 components.
Fractal Edge also announced the forthcoming release of two Fractal Map Starter Kits for Visual Studio 2005, developed under Microsoftâs Ascend Beta Program for this product. These C# and Visual Basic Starter Kits will allow developers to leverage new features within the latest release of Microsoftâs flagship development environment to get up and running on their Fractal Map integration as quickly and easily as possible.
"We found integrating Fractal:Edgeâs components into our application a pretty seamless experience. They were always there when we had a question, not that we had many â they know their stuff and it showed in the underlying architecture of their components and supporting documentation." said Stephen Greenfield, President, Write Brothers Inc.
With these releases developers on Fractal Edgeâs advanced data visualization platform can embed Fractal Maps fully into their thick- and thin-client applications, allowing them to represent the detail, overview and intermediate summaries of their underlying data all in one simple picture and so provide better analytic and decision-making support to their end users. In addition, the Fractal Map 2.0 API allows developers to customize and extend the behaviour of their Fractal Maps â for instance by creating a new adapter to pull in data from a proprietary source not supported by Fractal Edgeâs standard adapters.
"We have deployed, tested and refined Fractal Maps over the last few years for some of the most demanding customers in the world â market risk management and trading operations at the major global investment banks. While we continue to stay focused on this market, we are keen to motivate and enable developers in other data-rich markets to provide the huge benefits of Fractal Maps to their customers." said Gervase Clifton-Bligh, VP Product Strategy & Development, Fractal Edge. "The Fractal Map 2.0 API and Visual Studio 2005 Starter Kits will provide these developers with the tools they need to enhance their data-rich applications and sophisticated enterprise-wide solutions without adding significantly to their development costs."
