Disbank implements second generation online banking service in just four months using .NET

New service increases online customers to 210,000

LONDON — 16 November 2005 — Microsoft announced today that Disbank, a leading Turkish bank, has increased its online retail banking customer base to 140,000 by developing a second generation internet banking service using the Microsoft .NET framework in just four months.

The new system provides enhanced functionality for the bank’s personal banking customers. On the retail banking site, customers can now apply for credit cards, pay utility bills, and view insurance policies online. They can also lower transaction limits, update personal information, adjust time-out period and restrict account and transaction access.

Also for its corporate banking customers, Dışbank has achieved a greater level of flexibility in user settings enabling each firm to have unlimited number of users, each having different access levels to accounts and transactions. New services including uploading salary payment and cheques receivable files, Social Security payments and extensive reporting tools have been made available for corporate banking customers. The bank has already seen a 40% rise in corporate customers using the online channel with around 70,000 users regularly using the site.

Using Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework, Disbank has entirely rebuilt its first PL/SQL-Oracle based internet banking service. The innate scalability of the Microsoft technology used is also providing capacity planning and implementation cost benefits for the bank.

Okan Bekatli, Director of the Systems and Network Management Department, Dışbank said, "Our previous architecture limited our ability to respond quickly to the business units’ desire to introduce new products and features to the online service. The flexibility and ease of development with .NET ensures that we can manage the addition of new features easily as well as support future growth in online customers and transaction volume."
