"ObjectStar has made it possible for us to cost effectively integrate new applications with our legacy mainframe databases and processes," said Jerry Vincent, vice president of Technology, Receivable Management Services. "With the acquisition of ObjectStar, TIBCO will be able to provide a leading, cost-effective solution for integrating applications on the mainframe. Companies will be able to fully extend business automation across the enterprise for all data, regardless of its source."
The acquisition of ObjectStar by TIBCO will:
Enable TIBCO to compete more effectively with IBM in the native mainframe integration market.
Broaden and enhance TIBCOâs mainframe integration solutions with ObjectStarâs native mainframe integration products.
Provide customers with a wider selection of mainframe connectivity options. The addition of native integration capabilities for CA-IDMS, ADABAS, and Model 204 databases will enrich TIBCO product offerings in the Financial Services and Government vertical markets.
"Most large organisations have mainframe systems that support business critical applications. These are not legacy systems, but are being actively developed and must be integrated with the rest of the application portfolio," says Dan Sholler, vice president at META Group. "Integration systems must be extended to give organisations the flexibility to deploy it in the most efficient fashion, and do so on any technology platform that is actively used in the enterprise."
"The combination of TIBCOâs existing mainframe integration technology and ObjectStarâs native mainframe integration technologies further enhances our real-time business infrastructure offering and positions us to more effectively compete with IBM in this important market," said Vivek Ranadivé, chairman and CEO, TIBCO Software Inc.
