Enhanced Content Management Creates Better Communications

Dunfermline Building Society, Scotland’s largest building society, has enhanced the management of its web site with a new content management system that was developed for the Society by leading financial systems software house, MBA Systems. The new system supports a completely new Dunfermline Building Society site that was also designed by MBA Systems. Reflecting the society’s brand, the new site provides an improved medium for communicating with its clientele and is an important part of its strategy of getting closer to customers who are dispersed across a wide geographical area.

The new content management system has been designed to facilitate the introduction of new products and new product types. It gives Dunfermline Building Society greater control and enables its site to be updated easier and faster.

It is particularly relevant to supporting rate changes. It automatically updates all parameters and tables throughout the entire site when new rate table spreadsheets are centrally loaded. As a result rate changes can be published in a matter of minutes where as previously it took several days. Furthermore, because it requires less manual input, the possibility of human error is significantly reduced.

"Our new system is very impressive," explains Morag Erskine, web site manager at Dunfermline Building Society, "when we recently made a change to our investment rates, the experience of updating the site was wonderful! It took less than an hour to complete, whereas it used to take 3 days! It was even quicker and easier than I had imagined."

The new content management system also includes a highly efficient archive system that enables the society to view the site retrospectively. This means that Dunfermline Building Society can historically look at the contents of its site on any given day.
