company and US wireless operator Midwest Wireless, today announced a major
extension in Midwest Wireless' use of PolarLake's products providing over
300,000 wireless subscribers with access to financial services data. This
represents a further extension of the Midwest Wireless deployment, which has
been live since September 2002.
Midwest Wireless chose PolarLake technology to help enhance its Mail.IT service providing subscribers with up to the minute message alerts on a wide range of business and general interest topics, such as severe weather alerts, news updates and sports information. The alerts are based on content provided by third parties to Midwest Wireless, encoded in both XML and binary formats.
One year on and Midwest Wireless reflect on the success of the project. Tim
Tupy, Director of Product and Services Development, Midwest Wireless comments, "We have been delighted with the reliability and flexibility of PolarLake technology. Over the last year, we have launched a number of new services, such as financial information alerts for our business customers.
PolarLake has allowed us to deliver these new services in record time and scale to support our rapidly increasing subscriber base. The incremental cost of integration associated with each new service has also been very low, building further the impressive ROI we have got from our PolarLake investment."
Ronan Bradley, CEO, PolarLake comments "Midwest's Mail.IT service provides an excellent example of how PolarLake allows complex integration projects to be delivered incrementally, at greatly reduced cost and risk. PolarLake has also proven its reliability and scalability in handling the peaks of demand on Midwest Wireless' services associated with major news events or weather alerts."
