London, 24 November, 2003 -- Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), and leading provider of information and technology solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced that Rowan Dartington, the leading stockbroker in the West of England, has deployed Thomson Financial’s real-time equity solutions across over 30 seats.

Under the terms of the two-year contract, Thomson Financial will provide a combination of its new Thomson ONE Equity Web application and GlobalTOPIC Trader workstations in place of products by several incumbent market data vendors.

Thomson ONE Equity Web is targeted at the off-trading floor community, as well as retail brokers and institutional investors. It is a browser-based solution for clients requiring real-time exchange and news, integrated with premium historical and fundamental data and analytics, at a cost effective price. It draws on the modular, open application framework of the Thomson ONE suite and is the thin-client version of Thomson ONE Equity workstation.

Rowan Dartington selected Thomson ONE Equity Web because it is a portable, cost effective application without the high cost of owning unnecessary infrastructure or unwanted content. Users at Rowan Dartington include private client executives, corporate finance, traders and research analysts.

Barrie Newton, Managing Director, Rowan Dartington commented: “Signing for Thomson ONE Equity Web and renewing our commitment to GlobalTOPIC Trader and Autex means that we are able to offer our users the appropriate real time equity product for their needs at an overall lower cost of ownership than disparate systems provided by a range of other suppliers. The combination of Thomson Financial products significantly improves our research and information gathering capabilities”.

Thomson ONE Equity Web provides Rowan Dartington with:

· Equity prices, together with on-screen and e-mail alerting
· Real time news from Dow Jones, AFX and other providers, together with Regulatory Disclosures (and 390 day news archive)
· Company fundamentals from Thomson Datastream
· 10 year price chart history and technical studies from Thomson Datastream
· Broker earnings estimates on 80,000 instruments from Thomson First Call
· Live and historical market data downloads into Excel
· One click navigation to switch between current trading, historical and fundamental views Workspace personalisation to in-house customised screens

Traders at Rowan Dartington will also be able to take advantage of Thomson Financial's continued commitment to GlobalTOPIC Trader, the real-time data and trading product. Built on the strengths and market reputation of TOPIC3, the leading UK domestic equity product, GlobalTOPIC Trader combines market data and news with an impressive array of functionality for trading professionals. In addition to trading links to the London Stock Exchange, Xetra and Retail Service Providers, GlobalTOPIC Trader offers Position Keeping and Order Routing/Management capabilities plus extensive APIs for integration with in-house systems.

Jonathan Morris, European Product Director said: “We’re pleased to expand our long standing relationship with Rowan Dartington. By offering them a choice, we are able to cater for the distinct needs of different users of real time equity solutions, without forcing them to purchase unwanted content and functionality.”

Thomson ONE Equity is a component of Thomson ONE, a flexible, open application framework that allows for the easy integration of content and tools from Thomson Financial, third parties and clients’ own proprietary systems. Thomson ONE has the ability to deliver tailored integration, without the high cost of ownership and unwanted features. It is both an architecture and new service configurable to the specific needs of corporate finance, institutional, brokerage and fixed income market professionals. Each component within the solution suite is tailored to a different audience: Thomson ONE Equity is aimed at the institutional equities market; Thomson ONE Banker is aimed at the investment banking market; Thomson ONE Analytics is aimed at the institutional investment market. Thomson Financial will announce the launch of Thomson ONE Yield for fixed income users in Europe, together with Portfolio management and investor relations product suites in 2004.
