Advertisements for Verified by Visa will feature a TxtAddress SMS code alongside the traditional phone and web methods of contact. With the hectic pace of business, customers can now simply text epdq.vbv.youremail to 07797 800 800 to receive further information to their email inbox and handset. The text will also automatically notify a sales representative to follow up with a call two days later.
Nigel Moloney, Head of Sales, Marketing and Business Development, Barclaycard Merchant Services, commented: "Verified by Visa will be a powerful weapon in the fight against online credit card fraud in the run up to Christmas. Everyone in business has a mobile phone so SMS is the ideal medium for reaching this audience. Customers can now send a simple text message via the TxtOrder service to request more information whenever and wherever they see our advertisements, be it in a cab, on a train or even from home. "
Steve Almond, CEO, TxtOrder PLC, added: "We have worked closely with Barclaycard Merchant Services on the development of the TxtOrder service which can be used to buy goods as well as get information. It is great to see the UK's leading payment processor recognise that its business customers can now use text to get more information about its services.
"To date, SMS has largely been used as a person-to-person messaging tool. Whilst growth is now being seen in the consumer to business market, few business-to-business organisations have tapped into this easy and effective way to make their information available. Barclaycard Merchant Services has been impressed by the accessibility of the TxtOrder service and immediately grasped the real benefits it delivers to the business audience."
Barclaycard Merchant Services worked with TxtOrder to integrate its ePDQ payments system during TxtOrder's pre-launch pilot, where brands such as Next Directory, Phones4u and Yamaha trialed the service. Since the launch in May 2003, TxtOrder has worked with brands such as George Wimpy, Pirelli, Copthorne Homes and Notting Hill Carnival.
