London, 10 November, 2003 - Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC) and leading provider of information and technology solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced that it has deployed Thomson ONE Analytics, the real-time integrated research and analytical application, for New Star Asset Management, one of the UK’s fastest growing fund management companies with £5.3 billion of assets under management. Thomson Financial won the Thomson ONE Analytics contract in a competitive pitch, however specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This complements the scalable workflow solution that Thomson Financial provided for New Star Asset Management in June 2002. It utilised the Thomson Dataworks Enterprise (formerly known as The Press), an enabling technology that allows New Star users to access, cache, integrate and distribute Thomson Financial data from leading content sets and products including Datastream and TOPIC, through a single common API. This helps standardize the way in which New Star investment managers view information to maximize efficiency.

Charles Hornung, Head of IT, New Star Asset Management commented: "We wanted our senior fund mangers to access substantial research capabilities through one global platform, at the same time simplifying our process by aggregating our internal and external research. Thomson ONE Analytics builds on our existing relationship with Thomson Financial and helps improve our workflow. It is the best solution for our research needs."

Thomson ONE Analytics is the real-time, integrated analytical workflow solution for institutional investors, offering world-class content – in context – combined with powerful analytical tools and intelligent navigation. Thomson ONE Analytics enables clients to monitor markets, portfolios and securities; identify and analyze investment opportunities; and communicate their findings. Thomson ONE Analytics also offers an Excel add-in that provides dynamic access to the integrated content directly in a MicrosoftÒ Excel environment, enabling clients to quickly and easily build models and analyze data.

Thomson ONE Analytics substantially enhances New Star fund managers’ experience, providing them with integrated access to:

- First Call Morning Meeting Notes
- First Call real-time broker research reports
- First Call global analyst estimates featuring more than 20 forecast measures
- Worldscope fundamentals dating back to 1980
- I/B/E/S global aggregated forecasts, enabling New Star users to analyze countries, sectors and industries the same way they analyze stocks
- Datastream economics indicator charts and historical pricing charts
- Thomson equity pricing
- Thomson institutional holdings data
- First Call Events - the most comprehensive, accurate and timely calendar of corporate events
- SEC filings from Disclosure
The premium content is coupled with sophisticated functionality, including robust screening capabilities, advanced charting, and the flexible internal publishing tool for both internally generated research and estimates.

"We’re pleased to further develop our relationship with New Star, one of the UK’s most exciting asset management companies. They’re already benefiting from our scalable Thomson Dataworks Enterprise solution and look set to reap further efficiencies with Thomson ONE Analytics," said Jonathan Morris, European Product Director, Thomson Financial. "With its superior functionality, Thomson ONE Analytics efficiently fulfills New Star’s unique requirements, eliminating the need to build an expensive solution."

Thomson ONE Analytics is a component of Thomson ONE, a flexible, open application framework that allows for the easy integration of content and tools from Thomson Financial, third parties and clients’ own proprietary systems. Thomson ONE has the ability to deliver tailored integration, without the high cost of ownership and unwanted features. It is both an architecture and new service configurable to the specific needs of corporate finance, institutional, brokerage and fixed income market professionals. Each component within the solution suite is tailored to a different audience: Thomson ONE Equity is aimed at the institutional equities market; Thomson ONE Banker is aimed at the investment banking market; Thomson ONE Analytics is aimed at the institutional investment market. Thomson Financial will launch Thomson ONE Yield for fixed income users and portfolio management and investor relations product suites in Europe in 2004.
