Macalla Software in Final Shortlist for GSM Association Global Award

Dublin; 30th January, 2002: Macalla Software, Europe's leading provider of
proven mobile e-Commerce platforms and solutions, has been selected as a finalist by the GSM Association in the "Best Wireless Application Developer"
category for the GSM Association Awards 2002. These prestigious awards are
the "Oscars" of the global GSM industry, and the winners will be announced
at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes on 19th February 2002.

This nomination has arisen because, as well as other live deployments, Macalla's products have underpinned Europe's largest mobile e-Commerce deployment for Postbank Nederland (ING Group) and Telfort (MM02) in the Netherlands. In the first six months, this undertaking, combining SMS activated pre-paid top-up directly from subscribers' bank accounts with full
function mobile banking, clocked up 500,000 users and millions of transactions. The 3GSM World Congress is the world's largest telecommunications show, and over 24,000 people are expected to attend this year, from 135 countries.

"We are very proud to have been shortlisted by the GSM Association for this
prestigious award as it is a strong validation of the proven experience and
strength that Macalla's products have built up in the marketplace." said
Niall O'Cleirigh, Chief Executive Officer, Macalla Software.

Now in its seventh year, the GSM Association Awards are made for excellence
and innovation in the global wireless industry, and the awards will be
presented by Jon Snow, presenter Channel 4 News. Macalla Software will also
be exhibiting at the 3GSM World Congress in Hall 1, B22, and will also be
participating on the Sun Microsystems stand (Hall 1, C6), Hewlett Packard
stand (Hall 1, A10), and Openwave stand (Hall 2, E71).
