• Generic Network Systems begins SOC (SSAE16) attestation reporting process
• GNS goal is to complete an SOC type 1 attestation in March 2015
• GNS SOC 1 type 2 review process will start April 1, 2015, for the six month period ending September 30, 2015 with final review of the process scheduled for October 31, 2015.
Generic Network Systems (GNS) is a boutique systems management firm based in New York and San Francisco that specializes in hosting and managing systems for Hedge Funds and Investment Management firms.
GNS has always relied on hosting facilities who have completed SOC 1 (SSAE 16) attestation reports for storage of client data, but now the GNS hosting and management services will also complete this rigorous process. Since a number of GNS clients have attained SSAE16 attestation completion over the years using GNS services, and GNS has worked closely with the clients and their auditors to provide the necessary controls and documentation, the company is very familiar with the process.
“The SOC 1 reporting process was widely adopted for colocation providers, and we always insist on it - or its international equivalent - before we contract with a provider,” said Tim Gamble, director of business development for GNS. “However, now our clients have told us that they would like our hosting and management services to also complete this process, and we are anxious to demonstrate that our procedures and policies meet the criterion. After an exhaustive search and interview process, the Auditwerx team impressed us with their in-depth knowledge of the private cloud hosting and computer management business, and we are happy to start working with them.”
