The Wall Street Journal Europe to produce and distribute bi-monthly lifestyle magazine for traders in the U.K.

The Wall Street Journal Europe and Doubledown Media announced today that they have signed an agreement to co-publish the U.K. edition of Doubledown’s Trader Monthly magazine.

Trader Monthly, a bi-monthly luxury lifestyle magazine aimed at wealthy traders and hedge fund managers, was co-founded in 2004 by London-based trader Magnus Greaves, who established U.K. trading firm MacFutures (now Marex) which has offices worldwide and employs around 550 traders.

Under its agreement with The Wall Street Journal Europe, Doubledown Media will continue to edit the magazine using its team of editorial staff in the U.S. and Europe under the stewardship of Randall Lane, formerly bureau chief of Forbes and editor-in-chief of award-winning P.O.V. magazine. The Journal Europe will be responsible for producing, distributing and selling the magazine in the U.K, as well as handling all advertising sales. The luxury magazine will continue to go to a controlled circulation of 50,000 traders with the first issue under the new agreement due out at the end of next month. Non-traders will be able to purchase copies for £10 an issue at newsstands.

Trader Monthly is known for its annual list of the 100 highest-earning traders in the world, as well an annual “30 Under 30” list. The magazine, which targets City traders and hedge-fund managers with a combination of inside-track information and lifestyle content, features a mixture of profiles and hints from the big players in the European financial markets.

Doubledown Media is launching ‘Dealmaker’ magazine for affluent bankers in the U.S. in mid-November and plans to roll out a U.K. edition next year which it also plans to co-publish with The Wall Street Journal Europe.

“The Wall Street Journal Europe boasts unique reader demographics in terms of income and concentration of senior management, providing luxury goods advertisers with a powerful platform to reach this highly desirable audience”, said Jon Housman, managing director, The Wall Street Journal Europe. “Style Journal, which we launched in April, has extended this platform, and now Trader magazine extends this even further.”

Magnus Greaves, founder of Doubledown Media, said, “We’re delighted to be co-publishing Trader Monthly with such an authoritative and highly-respected global business brand. The Wall Street Journal Europe is the bible of the business elite in the U.K. and Europe and it’s a perfect fit for our high-end luxury and lifestyle content. “

The partnership with Doubledown Media is the latest development in the Journal Europe’s ongoing investment and innovation in the region. It launched a new compact, online-integrated format last October; began printing operations in Ireland and Turkey earlier this year; launched high-end fashion and lifestyle quarterly ‘Style Journal’ in April and recently added content from luxury travel brand Nota Bene to its weekly Weekend Journal leisure and lifestyle section. Weekend Journal will also publish ArtReview magazine’s ‘Power 100’ list of the most influential people in the contemporary art world, in a special exclusive issue in October.
